Using Pogoplug with TP-Link TL-MR3420 (3G WiFi) Router

Hello,

A friend of mine lives in an area where ADSL is not supported. SO he completely depends on his 3G USB modem.

He recently bought a tablet and a new android phone both of course with WiFi. To share his 3G connection he intendsto buy the TP-Link TL-MR3420, which is a 3G Router with 4 Ethernet ports, too.

My question is, can he use poguplug with this router. I read that you can use the Ethernet ports for both the DSL connections and 3G connections.

He wants to share his USB HDD among all devices.

Does anyone know an answer to this?

Thank you

Hussein

Hi there,

Pogoplug will likely work with this equipment but the provider and plan your friend selects is more important.

The plan needs to provide a real IP address, not a proxied address which puts your friends network behind another router on the provider's network.

Other than that, we use http and https used by all websites and UDP ports for routing data traffic, both inbound and outbound.

As long as the provider's plan satisfies all above and assuming the network is fast with relatively low latency, Pogoplug should work.

Hope that helps.
